Grasshoppers and crickets are an insect group with 38 Danish species in all, including grasshoppers proper, crickets and mole crickets. According to the length of their antennae, they are divided into long-horned and short-horned grasshoppers. Their life cycle has three stages: egg, nymph (young) and adult. They overwinter as eggs, and the nymphs appear in May/June and pass through a number of stages (which varies from species to species) before they become adults. The adults die towards the end of the year
