Other small creatures
Here I have gathered the small creatures I have come across while photographing butterflies in the Bøtø area – that is, other insects and spiders (arachnids). Most small creatures are very easy to photograph, as they are not nearly as shy of people as butterflies. For the same reason it is a very good idea to practise close-up photography of insects on precisely these small creatures and get to know your camera better.

An interest in the small creatures comes naturally when you wander through the countryside looking for butterflies. You often meet them in the same places, and frequently on the same flowers as the butterflies. Personally, I was fascinated by their diversity, and slowly a wish grew to know their names and how they live. Now and then you also run into specimens that are rare in the country or in the area, which sharpens the interest. With Bøtø's position on Falster near Denmark's southernmost point, it is not surprising that new butterflies and other insects visiting us from the south turn up from time to time.
The species are shown in groups according to the official classification of insects.
