Known in Danish simply as the Admiral. Wingspan 52-62 mm. Flies from May to October. Arrives as a migrant from southern Europe in May–June. In the summer months it is seen on the flowers on the dike and in the plantation, where the female lays her eggs on Nettles in woodland clearings. The Danish-born offspring fly from summer until late autumn, when most of them migrate south. Those that stay behind seek out dense Ivy in particular and can survive very mild winters.
