Hemiptera are an insect group with about 550 Danish species, including shieldbugs and other true bugs, leafhoppers and aphids. Their mouthparts are more or less a beak, used like a hypodermic needle to suck up sap from the host plant or juices from their prey. The life cycle of bugs has three stages: egg, nymph (young) and adult. The nymph normally goes through 5 moults or stages before it becomes an adult. Most bugs have wings but seldom fly.
