With 3 generations there are “grandchildren” as well in the same year. The number of generations determines in how many months of the year we can see the butterfly.×. Lives on dry grassland, heaths, fallow fields, meadows and in woodland clearings. Common in Jutland, but scattered in the rest of the country. On Falster it is seen only in the dike area, where it eagerly – and preferably in sunshine – seeks nectar on Field Scabious. The caterpillar, which overwinters, lives on Sheep's Sorrel and other docks and sorrels.
