Net-winged insects (Neuroptera) are an insect group with 56 Danish species – represented above all by the lacewing and antlion families. The name refers to the veins of the wings, which usually form a dense network. They have two pairs of fairly similar wings, which at rest are held roof-like, that is, tilted up on edge over the abdomen. Their life cycle has four stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. The larvae are predators, living on land or in fresh water.
